Our Principal

I'd like to extend a warm Colfax Charter Elementary welcome to both our returning and new students and their families. We are looking forward to an outstanding year as staff and parents work together to create a positive learning environment and strive to meet the unique needs of each child.
Trees on a Playground

Rooted in Valley Village

Colfax was built in 1950 on what was once a 10-acre arboretum.  The trees that remain on the campus today are symbolic of our history and they create an idyllic school setting that embodies the school's motto "Rooted in Education and Reaching for the Stars."

In 2022, Colfax was one of only two LAUSD elementary schools to earn the honor of National Blue Ribbon School from the U.S. Department of Education which is a testament to our extraordinary teachers and staff.

Parents are a driving force at Colfax. They actively participate in numerous ways that directly impact student achievement.  Parents serve on our important School Councils, volunteer in the classrooms, and raise funds to provide enrichment for all students.

Summer of Learning

Join us from June 17 – July 16 and make the most of this year’s Summer of Learning.

Los Angeles Unified provides students with core academic support, opportunities to enhance their mastery of academic subjects for college readiness, and enrichment courses designed to engage and motivate students in learning through self-selected courses of interest. Our robust summer school programs will not only give students the opportunity to have structured social interactions, but access to expanded paid internship opportunities as they continue to imagine the possibilities and prepare to be Ready for the World.
